Living In A House With No Roman Blinds – How Blind Are You?
April 25, 2010
The Romans were the most creative and innovative bunch of people and they were the creators of many awesome things, which we use till this day, in our daily lives. They were very original in their ideas and their works have been commended by all the countries of the world. The palaces, the astronomical towers, houses with such foundations that even today’s modern machines struggle to make, Coliseum and many other structure created by those great people still stands majestically, while recently built structures fail to stand for a year.
With skills like this, they were keen on building new stone structures, statues and palaces every day; but all these work will result in dust clouds blown about by the winds, making it difficult for people to live in places near the construction sites in those days. Since an equation cannot remain unbalanced, their great minds came up with a new idea to save the people in houses from getting affected by dusts and dirt, which was nothing but the Roman Blinds.
Such is the history of Roman Blinds and it has conquered a special place in the path of time, just like those great conquerors of lands. However, their original idea was to use damp cloth or fabric to cover the windows and thereby prevent entry of dust particles. Later on, they found that it is also useful in keeping out the harsh rays of the sun and the hot air from blowing into the house. The damp cloth will cool the air before letting it inside.
This method was further developed and lightweight wood and fabric were used for making them later on. Having such useful features, they were further developed into blinds which are strips of wood or fabric attached together with cords and they can either be lowered or raised by means of pulling one of the cords available in the set. All these arrangements provided them with the perfect solution for keeping the hot air during the days in summer and the cold winds blowing through the window during winter seasons.
Nowadays, the Roman blinds have undergone tremendous changes in their structures, material and designs and have been made in almost all parts of the world. So buying a Roman Blind is like buying candy from a store these days. The most important thing while buying the same is that we should first judge the appearance and thickness of the strips in the Blinds and also the colour matching with the decor of the room in which it is going to be hung.
Manufacturers have made Roman Blinds with triple insulation layers which keep out all or part of the Sun’s rays and winds. Most surprisingly, this has become quite a fashion in almost all the houses and anyone who does not have Roman Blinds hanging over their window is considered unworthy of having a beautiful house. Strictly speaking, a palace bought for over a million will be worth its value only if you buy a set of Roman Blinds for the windows of the house.
